The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a Sherpa as "a member of a Tibetan people living on the high southern slopes of the Himalayas in eastern Nepal and known for providing support for foreign trekkers and mountain climbers."

Although David is not Tibetan and has never visited the Himalayas, he has the nickname of Sherpa Dave, because he has always been willing to help everyone.  He believes that the Sherpa Center for Well-Being is a perfect name for a psychotherapy practice, because throughout our day, we will encounter many hills, but sometimes there are mountains that we aren't ready to handle.  As a therapist, he will be your Expert Guide, who will help you to CONQUER these mountains.

His experience in psychotherapy is very varied due to his work in both Indiviudal and Group Therapy for a Community Mental Health Agency, performing Crisis Intervention services for a suburban hospital, as well as a considerable amount of schooling and practice.  Some of his specialties include Depression, Anxiety, Relationships, Self-Esteem, and Addictions, but this doesn't mean that he can't help you, if your concern isn't listed.  The best thing to do is to give David a call at (215) 910-1599 for a free phone consultation, so that together you can determine if he will be able to guide you through the mountains that you are facing.

If you live outside of Philadelphia, but are interested in seeing a great therapist, please let us recommend a very trusted colleague, Dr. Amy Abramowitz.  She is located at 1040 North Providence Road in Media, PA and can be reached at (484) 919-0626.  She is does Individual, Family, and Couples Therapy, as well as can administer a myriad of psychological assessments.
